Fun Vegetarian Cuisine
Our UKISHIMA GARDEN brand prides itself on using all natural and local ingredients in our vegan and vegetarian food menus. Both locations - Okinawa & Kyoto - are popular tourist destinations and are located within refurbished Japanese-style houses. Enjoy our dishes made from local vegetables and our vast selection of organic wines.
Okinawa is the southern most island chain of Japan and serves as a vacation and resort area for those from the northern islands. Before becoming part of Japan, Okinawa was part of the Ryukyu Kingdom with a culture very different from Japan. UKISHIMA Garden pays respect to the old Ryukyu’s by using as much as possible only fruits, vegetables, and tofu that produced in Okinawa. The menu is completely vegan, yet full of different spices and invigorating flavors that need several visits before you can enjoy them all.
UKISHIMA GARDEN Kyoto
Shojin cuisine is the traditional, buddhist cooking style using only vegetarian or vegan ingredients. Now usually served only in buddhist temples or in very high end restaurants, UKISHIMA GARDEN Kyoto brings this cooking philosophy to a modern and casual cafe. Located in a renovated machiya - old Kyoto-style home - this is the perfect place to have vegan cuisine while visiting Kyoto.
